Summer is here again and as the weather warms up we have an increased risk of food contamination. Spoiled food can deliver some very unpleasant symptoms to its victim. Generally, homeopathy is a lifesaver when it comes to relief of the vomiting and diarrhea associated with food poisoning. One of the worst offenders in triggering food poisoning is spoiled chicken. It is common to wake a few hours after going to bed with extreme nausea and a simultaneous urgent need to get to the toilet. The remedy to bring about quick relief is Arsenicum Album. Arsenicum Album 30c can be bought at most health food shops and chemists. It can be taken every 15 minutes and relief will be felt within the first five minutes if it is the right remedy. Continue the remedy hourly until the symptoms stop – It is unlikely that more than six to eight doses will be needed. Should symptoms persist despite the use of Arsenicum, then another remedy will need to be found. This is not the only homeopathic remedy for food poisoning but in our personal and clinical experience it is the one most often indicated in this situation.

It is also important to keep the fluids up and remember that small children dehydrate very easily. With vomiting and diarrhea, a lot of bodily fluid is lost, so even though the patient may not want to drink, it is important that they do.
