Do you remember the last time you chopped an onion? Like many of us, you may have developed sore, watering eyes and a runny nose?   Homeopathy uses natural substances like the onion that can cause symptoms in a healthy person to cure similar symptoms in a person who is ill.  Underpinning this approach to healing is a Homeopathic law –  the Law of Similars. This law means Like cures Like, and was first postulated by Hippocrates 2000 years ago. This means our humble onion can be a wonderful remedy for hayfever and colds where symptoms of this nature are present. The Law of Similars is quite a different philosophy from that of the philosophy of conventional medicine which beleives that we need to fight against bacteria and viruses with drugs and win the battle! Homeopaths help the body in a different way by matching the symptoms of the disease to the symptom pattern of the remedy.  The effect of treatment is to strengthen the body’s own ability to fight infection and restore health quickly and gently.

Homeopathic medicines are made from natural substances usually of either plant, mineral or animal origin.  The manufacture of the original substance into a homeopathic medicine requires repeated dilution with water and succussion (vigorous shaking) which is termed, potentisation.

Many people incorrectly believe that the substances are merely diluted until no original substance is left.  But without the succussion in the manufacturing process, there can be no homeopathic potency. Remedies are stored in alcohol to preserve them and can be safe to use for years if stored correctly in a cool dark place away from strong odours.

Over the last 200 years, homeopathy has a vast anecdotal history of success. Today it is widely practiced in India, England, France, and Germany and is now gaining acceptance in Western Europe. Historically many of its strong adversaries have turned to homeopathy and become some of its Masters.

Today mainstream acceptance of this gentle and effective medicine requires scientific proof mostly in the form of Random Controlled Clinical Trials. To date there have been several meta-analysis (or many studies combined) showing that the biggest objection to homeopathy, placebo effect  is in fact incorrect.

  1. Kleijnen en Knipschild analyzed 107 researches. Their conclusions:  At the moment the evidence of clinical trials is positive.
  2. Boissel and Chucherat analyzed 15 studies. Their conclusion: There is some evidence that homeopathic treatment are more effective than placebo. The results of our meta-analysis are not compatible with the hypothesis that the clinical effects of homeopathy are completely due to placebo.
  3. Linda analyzed 89 studies in 1998 and concluded : the results of our meta analysis are not compatible with the hypothesis that the clinical effects of homeopathy are completely due to placebo.
  4. Linde analyzed 32 studies in 1998 and concluded the results of the available randomised trials suggest that homeopathy individualised homeopathy has an effect over placebo.
  5. Mathie analyzed 93 studies and concluded: That this represented a body of research where the null hypothesis has been rejected in favour of homeopathy.

All meta-analyses concluded that homeopathy was an effective medicine and the result could not be explained as placebo.  It also shows that  by reading the authors  conclusions of the studies they were not very pleased with the results of their own research.  It is as if they are excusing themselves for their own results by trying to reason them away.  Accepting these results adds to the body of medical knowledge, it does not invalidate science as it stands.

Please note:  In general it is regarded as sufficient to have two positive meta-analysis for a science to be recognised.

Sally and Jeannette are qualified and experienced registered practitioners with a combined experience of over 40 years.  Being registered with the NZ council of Homeopaths they must meet the obligations required under New Zealand law, including the Medicines Act and Privacy Act.

The homeopathic remedies used by Healthy Kiwi Kids are manufactured, stored and dispensed in accordance with procedures detailed in recognised homeopathic pharmacopoeiass , current NZ legislation and homeopathic clinical practice requirements by the New Zealand Council of Homeopaths.

To a homeopath, illness and health are a matter of balance. Underlying imbalances are the cause of disease and over time, the body creates symptoms in an attempt to restore homeostasis, which is another word for imbalance or equilibrium.  It is the imbalance itself that homeopathy addresses, using the symptoms as a guide to find the supportive remedy that will act as a catalyst to regain health.

Like the auto pilot on a plane, homeostasis responds to outside stressors that disrupt our wellbeing by responding to these stressors and restoring our flight path. It is a natural self-regulating mechanism constantly maintaining and adjusting our physiology to keep us well. This living intelligent energy we call the vital force, is what we beleive responds to invading organisms and emotional upsets and restores wellness.A healthy equilibrium can lead to freedom from mental, emotional and physical debility. Even more it means we are free to reach our potential creativity, happiness, passion for life and success.

Samuel Hahnemann, Homeopathy’s founder, had this philosophy:

The highest ideal of cure is to restore health rapidly, gently and permanently, in the shortest, surest, least harmful way, according to The Law of Similars and with The Minimum Dose

Imagine feeling better on all levels with just one therapy

Because homeopaths take in to account all of your symptoms, successful treatment will see most of your complaints resolve themselves naturally. Healthy Kiwi Kids sees a person as a functioning whole and not someone who has lost a child, got sinus issues, and has a sore knee.   You will not need long term grief counselling, an ear nose and throat specialist and an orthopedic surgeon. It is a gentle, natural, safe means of healing and probably of least importance in the scheme of life, a very economical way to get well.

Healthy Kiwi Kids’ aim is to make healthcare as affordable and accessible to the public as is practicable and possible.  Jeannette and Sally are parents and understand the financial pressures of family life.  Their supplement suggestions are therefore considered, tested and their range is small.  Sally and Jeannette choose to keep them to a minimum, mostly because they use homeopathy effectively and it is inexpensive to purchase.  However their training and skill in recommending the appropriate homeopathic medicine is where the cost lies.  The medicines are provided as a part of the consultation and the supplements are optional.
